Urban Expeditions is being run by Scottish Ecological Design Association (SEDA) to explore and explain key issues of contemporary sustainable design through running and cycling routes. Running routes of about one hour duration (around 10km) and cycle routes around two hours (30km) wil showcase and explain each cities best architecture and explain some of the sustainability issues behind them. Well researched and tested routes will be clearly mapped with accompanying notes, distributed via paper and internet. To tie in with the focus cities, SEDA will run a guided event within the cities focus month. Find out more about this event here > https://www.foa2016.com/events/2016-april-17-urban-expeditions.
Pop-up Cities builds on the universal success of temporary pavilions and the popularity of the present-day pop-up phenomenon. Entrants were asked to prepare proposals that would represent Edinburgh on a world stage, showcase the city including its World heritage status, and reflect the location of the pavilion at the Mound. Edinburgh’s entry was designed by local practice, Konishi Gaffney, who’s innovative design is based on a folded origami form (see image below). Russwood are proud to have sponsored the Scotlarch® cladding for this project.
