On the 4th June, we travelled to Pisek, via Prague, with a group of interior designers from practices across Scotland. Working in conjunction with our flooring manufacturing partners, the aim of the trip was to further their knowledge and understanding with regards to the production and design possibilities of our oak flooring.

Our guests were guided through the highly involved processes which are carried out to produce a Russwood floor.  In the first instance these include kiln-drying, moulding and planing followed by a variety of finishing techniques such as hand filling, sanding, smoking, rolling, brushing, cross-sawing and oiling – all to the customers exact specification. We hope this provided our guests with inspiration for future projects.

As well as visiting the extensive factory and impressive showroom, we found time to take in some of the most beautiful scenery and historic architecture that central Europe has to offer. We must thank our hosts for their generosity and our guests for their enthusiasm, insight and copious laughs!
