Russwood offers an accredited External Timber Cladding CPD throughout the UK, enabling architects to enhance their timber knowledge and expertise, and keep their skills up-to-date.

As timber has become an increasingly important design element of many modern buildings, we have seen a growth in demand for this CPD session. We are able to assist architects seek answers to detailed questions about the specification, detailing and durability of timber cladding in an informal yet professional manner.

The CPD sessions are presented by John Russell, Managing Director of Russwood, who has over 25 years of industry experience. His considerable expertise and informal style ensure that, by the end of the session, all of the participants' questions will be answered.

The CPD focuses on naturally durable species of wood: Siberian Larch, Scottish Larch, Western Red Cedar, European Oak, Accoya® and Thermal Modification, with the main topics being as follows:

  • Types of wood and associated characteristics (specification, grades, durability)
  • Profiles (horizontal and vertical options, louvres)
  • Colour and weathering
  • Fixing, detailing, and coatings

The presentation covers good and bad examples of cladding installations in both the UK and Europe, and will take approximately 45 minutes, leaving time for questions. Samples and detail sheets will be available for passing around, and we are also happy to discuss your projects; please feel free to bring plans along.

If you would like to arrange a CPD session at your office, please contact us to arrange a convenient date and time. Generally, we would suggest a lunchtime session and, if you can arrange for an informal lunch, Russwood will happily pay for this.

Please note that Russwood's CPD is accredited by the CPD Creditation Service.
