What is Cross-Sawn Oak flooring?

Truly unique and highly individual, this bespoke flooring option offers a very distinctive look and feel. Each board is finished by hand using techniques reminiscent of bygone days; knots are left raised; tool marks are visible and the boards are brushed by hand, all to create an impression of hundreds of years of use. Although available in both solid and engineered oak, the solid boards will show off a more dramatic effect because the thickness of the oak allows for harsher finishing.

Which grades are available?

European Oak is widely considered to be the finest available worldwide due to it’s attractive colouring, figuring and durability properties. All Russwood oak flooring originates from the same highest quality raw material, making grade of board purely an aesthetic preference.

However, unlike our other flooring ranges Cross-sawn is not available in multiple grades; instead, all boards are specially selected to be as rustic as possible with an emphasis placed on large knots. These are left raised and are hand filled with a natural filler to ensure a beautifully aged appearance.

Which colours are available?

As Cross-sawn is a hand-made product, every board is different and comes hand oiled with 3 applications of Hardwax-Oil, available in 7 bespoke colours, as presented in our colour guide. Please speak to one of our flooring experts to discuss your options.
